This tiny water color illustration was done years ago as a concept mock up for a Ballet Theatre backdrop which was supposed to be done in a very large scale. The client liked the tiny watercolor so much, but really could not afford to pay for a full sized cloth cloth backdrop painting. So we worked out how to get a high resolution digital scan of it for her to just buy the rights to use the painting as a digitally projected backdrop which she could have computer animated to have falling snow, darken to night with stars to come out, etc. The project was a resounding success for her dance studio's performance of the Nut Cracker and I managed to help her work out a solution for her project that ended up not costing her many thousands of dollars. It was a win-win for both of us!
It turns out I put this little original painting away and forgot all about it for years - until I was going through some old boxes in 2021. I decided to hang it for a small holiday show display where I was selling discounted original small paintings. Originally priced at $200 framed under glass, I had it on clearance for $75 ppd. A client saw a photo I had posted on my Facebook page and fell in love with it. This lost tiny treasure now has a new home - Thank you!
